Dyslexia Treatment for children in Dubai

Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that can hinder a person’s ability to read, write, spell, and sometimes speak. Dyslexia is the most common learning difficulty in children and persists throughout life. The severity of dyslexia can vary from mild to severe. The sooner dyslexia is treated, the more favorable the outcome; however, it is never too late for people with dyslexia to learn to improve their language skills.Children with dyslexia have difficulty in learning to read despite traditional instruction. It is caused by impairment in the brain’s ability to translate images received from the eyes or ears into understandable language.

Dyslexia can go undetected in the early grades of schooling. The child can become frustrated by the difficulty in learning to read. The child may show signs of depression and low self-esteem. Behavior problems at home as well as at school are frequently seen. The child may become unmotivated and develop a dislike for school. The child’s success in school may be jeopardized if the problem remains untreated.

The Dyslexia Dubai and Learning Difficulty Clinic at Child Learning and Enrichment Medical Center aims to educate and support children with learning difficulties in kindergarten, primary and secondary school.

Dyslexia Dubai provides support a multisensory learning approach that addresses difficulties in reading, writing, speaking and spelling. Support is also given to a child with other learning difficulties. These include dyscalculia, which affects a child’s ability in Math (counting, computation, concepts of time and difficulty with spatial direction); and dysgraphia, which is a difficulty with written expression (handwriting, spelling and composition).

Dyslexia and Learning Difficulty Assessment:

  • The first step is to get your child assessed, in order to provide the best support for your child.
  • Our licensed Psychologist or Developmental Pediatrician will carry out a full psycho-educational assessment of the child. This assessment will provide information on the child’s diagnosis.
  • Parents will receive a full report and feedback within 2 weeks of the assessment.
  • An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is then developed for your child. This will include short, medium and long term goals. These goals will be assessed on a regular basis.
  • Follow up assessments are also recommended.
  • Support is given to the child, family and teachers.
  • We provide 1:1 therapy sessions for children and young adults. These sessions are 1 hour in duration.
  • Group sessions are also available (if deemed appropriate). These sessions are 1 1/2 to 2 hours in duration.
  • Our clinicians can also do offsite visits to the home or school.
